🚨 Where Does Self-Doubt Come From?
Self-doubt isn’t something we’re born with—it’s something we learn. It often comes from:
- Past Failures – A past mistake makes us believe we’ll fail again.
- Negative Conditioning – Growing up in an environment where criticism outweighed encouragement.
- Comparison to Others – Social media, work, or relationships making us feel like we don’t measure up.
- Fear of Judgment – Worrying about what others will think if we try and fail.
- Perfectionism – Believing that if we’re not the best, we’re not worthy.
These experiences create limiting beliefs—the thoughts that tell us we can’t, shouldn’t, or won’t succeed.
But here’s the truth:
Self-doubt doesn’t come from your Higher Self—it comes from your Lower Self, your ego mind.
The Ego vs. The Higher Self: Who Are You Listening To?
- Your Lower Self (Ego Mind) is rooted in fear, scarcity, and self-preservation. It constantly seeks validation, avoids discomfort, and clings to old patterns that keep you “safe” but also stuck. This is the voice of self-doubt, comparison, and unworthiness.
- Your Higher Self is the part of you that operates from wisdom, love, and trust. It knows your worth beyond societal conditioning. It sees your potential, your resilience, and your ability to grow.
Question Your Thoughts – The Byron Katie Approach
When a self-doubt thought enters your mind, pause and ask yourself:
đź’ "Is it true?"
đź’ "Do I know for sure that this is true?"
Most of the time, you’ll realise these thoughts are just the ego mind trying to keep you small. The good news? You don’t have to believe them.
Visualisation to Break the Cycle of Limiting Beliefs
🛑 Next time a negative thought creeps in, try this:
🔹 Picture the thought as a piece of string—then visualise a pair of scissors cutting it. Watch it fall away.
🔹 Imagine the thought as a weed in your mind—see yourself using a weeding tool to pull it out, roots and all. Now, plant a new empowering belief in its place.
For example:
🚫 Lower Self: "I’m not smart enough." ➡ 🌱 Higher Self: "I am always learning and growing."
🚫 Lower Self: "I will fail." ➡ 🌱 Higher Self: "Every step forward brings me closer to success."
🚫 Lower Self: "I’m not good enough." ➡ 🌱 Higher Self: "I am enough exactly as I am."
By consciously recognising, questioning, and replacing limiting thoughts, you rewire your brain to step into your Higher Self and embrace confidence. đź’ˇ
đź’ˇ Final Thoughts: Choose Your Higher Self
Your thoughts are not facts—and just because you’ve believed something for a long time doesn’t mean it’s true.
The question is: Who are you going to listen to?
đźš« The fearful voice of the ego, keeping you stuck?
🌟 Or the wisdom of your Higher Self, guiding you forward?
Next time self-doubt creeps in, pause, challenge the thought, and take action anyway. Because the truth is—you are more powerful than you realise.
