Superfood Popsicles

It's been a pretty hot summer here in Australia (well it's actually autumn now but still hot and muggy!) so I decided what better way to cool off than with some homemade popsicles! :)

These ones are much nicer than the store-bought ones (that have added sugar and are full of unnatural colours and god knows what!?!) They only contain a few ingredients and what's even cooler (pun intended) is that they're super good for you so you can enjoy one (or give one to the littles ones) guilt-free!

I carefully thought about what flavours and superfoods I was going to put in because not only did I want them to be healthy but I wanted them to taste delicious.

Perfect Supplements Australia

The first one in the bunch is my Green Pina Colada Pop with just 3 simple ingredients: pineapple, coconut water and Perfect Organic Spirulina. This one is so refreshing but has the added bonus of being very cleansing and detoxifying. The pineapple is great for digestive health.

The second is my Pink Flamingo Popsicle that contains pitaya, Perfect organic acai, banana, maple syrup and coconut water. The Pink Flamingo is a great antioxidant boost which can really be helpful at fighting all the free radical damage we face in today's world.

The third one is my Avocado Collagen Popsicle and it's soooo good for your skin as it contains nourishing avocado which as you know is loaded with good healthy fats.  Perfect Hydrolyzed Collagen is added because it has the potential to really improve skin health, texture and firmness.

Ok so now that you know what they can do for you, let's get into how to make them, sound ok with you?

Please Note: to make popsicles you will need a blender, baking paper, a container for storing, popsicle sticks, a freezer (Duh) and some silicone ice block/popsicle moulds. I got mine on eBay and they weren't that expensive.

Green Pina Colada Pops

Ingredients:

Method:

  1. In a blender add your ingredients and blend until smooth
  2. Pour the mixture into the moulds but leave a little room at the top for the ice to expand as they freeze.
  3. Pop them into the freezer for about 90 mins and then take out to add the popsicle sticks then pop back into the freezer for about 4-5 hours or overnight is even better.
  4. Take out of freezer when done and remove them from the moulds...
  5. I reckon it's best to run the moulds under hot water and this way they should slide out quite easily, if using silicone moulds (recommended) you may or may not need to give them a little bit of encouragement by gentle squeezing the ends and helping push them out.
  6. Wrap in baking paper and store in a container in the freezer (if they last that long!)
